How Much Food Does A Pug Need A Day?
First of all, you can't allow your puppy to eat whatever they want whenever they want. Pugs can easily become overweight because of their small size! Here's a guide on how much they should eat during every period of their lives:
8 Weeks to 3 Months:
First of all, I want to congratulate you on your new pug puppy. You'll need to set a schedule to feed your pug puppy 4 times a day. Only feed your pug 1/4 cup of puppy food (high-quality nutrient dense food) or 1/2 cup (low quality food) if you want per meal.
3 to 6 months:
Now, it's the appropriate age to start feeding your pug just 3 times daily. Every meal should almost 1/3 of pug food so your pug will get 1 cup of food a day. Don't overfeed your pug; just give them one cup a day to avoid obesity.
6 to 12 Months
It's the perfect age to only feed your pug twice a day with 1/2 cup of food in each meal. There's no need to go beyond one cup of food a day. Your vet could even recommend that you feed your pug less than 1 cup daily.
12 Months and Older
Now that your pug is one year old or maybe older, you'll still feed them twice daily. Again, they can only healthily digest 1 cup of food a day. So, don't give your pug more than that a day.
How to Make Pug Food?
Personally, I've tried this recipe for my pug and he loves it! It's a very tasty and healthy homemade food that you can make for your pug. Also, you can use your pug's favorite ingredient whether its chicken, beef or lamb strained baby food.
What you'll need:
-2 jars meaty baby food (strained)
-one-half powdered milk
-one-fourth tsp garlic powder
-6tbsp vegetable oil
-10tbsp water
-1 egg
-2 and ¾ cups whole wheat flour
-1tsp salt
Now, just get a nice bowl and mix all the ingredients together. Then, preheat your oven at 350-degrees and knead this mixture for about 3-4 minutes. Roll it out until you get a thickness of half an inch. With a nice cutter, you should cut out reasonably sized biscuits for your pug.
Place these healthy biscuits on an ungreased baking sheet. Finally, bake it for about 20-25 minutes. Wait for it to cool and give it to your pug! Your pug will instantly fall in love with these yummy biscuits.
